David Price Managing Director
David has a dual background in business in the construction industry and involvement in the arts and event management. He has been proprieter of a number of property based businesses since 1982, has held positions with Cumbria Probation Service and the renowned artist Simon Bull.
Currently he runs David Price Property Services and is Festival Manager for the Carlisle Festival, an annual classical music event.
David brings with him experience in management and also specialisations in renovation and preservation techniques utilised within the museum and outdoor exhibits.

Duncan Turner Display and Exhibition Director
Duncan was born and educated in Lincoln. He later joined the Army and served with Parachute Regiment all over the world for 22 years. He always wanted to fly but defective colour vision grounded his ambitions. However he did gain his glider licence for recreational flying. . After leaving the army he ran his own business before emigrating to Carlisle. He now works as the Warehouse Manager for a leading supermarket in Carlisle. Duncan has been a member of the Society for more than 19 years.

David Kirkpatrick Financial Director
Dave is currently with ADT as the only multi-disciplined security and CCTV systems design engineer in the North of England. He has extensive experience in the commercial world.
Outside of work his interest in aviation prompted him to join No. 1862 Carlisle ATC where he was rapidly promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer 2 (WO2). He attended both powered and gliding flying courses at RAF Quston. He much preferred the gliding course and passed in one of the shortest times to receive his wings. He was then selected to become a staff cadet on No.641 Gliding School at Ouston. After four years he left the ATC to became a civilian flying instructor with a Silver C achievement and membership of the British Gliding Association.

George Kerr Communications Director
George served in the RAF and worked on Early Warning Radars and IFF coding systems. On leaving the RAF he joined IBM as an engineer and worked on the first solid state computer systems and on the engineering and marketing aspects of the first PC announced by IBM in 1982. Later he worked in engineering and sales management roles for IBM in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. As General Manager for IBM in Malta he helped form the IBM franchise on the island. He also worked in sales and marketing for other high tech companies including WANG in the USA and Novell in the UK.
Now retired and lives in Carlisle. As Communications Director for the Museum he is responsible for publicity material, advertising and for liaising with the media including TV, Radio and newspapers. Prepares press releases on behalf of the Museum.

Aileen Johnstone Educational Sevices Director
Aileen has lived in Cumbria most of her life and has been a teacher for 12 years. An interest in aircraft and local history led her to develop a World War Two education project for the museum.

Tom Stoddart Executive Director
Tom Stoddart, our Technical Director has been around aircraft for most of his working life, most of that at Carlisle Airport.
He served for five years in the Royal Air Force on aircraft airframe maintenance and left the RAF in 1961 to work for Casair, a flying training company based here in Carlisle or rather Crosby, as the airport was known as then. Since that date Tom has always been based at Carlisle on aircraft maintenance and inspection and is Licensed on all types of wood and metal aircraft Category B1 and Category C.
Tom is an E.U.Licensed A/C Maintenance Engineer No. CAP AML/410521D, CAA UK Licensed No. AMEL/410521D, Light A/C Association Inspector - Part 66 Licence No.336. and has many years experience in maintaining and inspecting our Vulcan aircraft which he part owns.

Laurence Davie Executive Director
Laurence served in the REME/Army Air Corps as a technician working on Austers, Beavers and helicopters; spending three years in Malaya on active service during the communist threat of the 1950/60s. On leaving the Forces he joined the Post Office where he worked till he retired.
During both his service in Malaya and in this country he was an active member of the Scout movement holding several posts within the County organisation. His role at the museum is mainly “hands on” working where required to make exhibition mock-ups, and on aircraft.

The Managment Team are all directors of the Solway Aviation Society Ltd, the holding company for the Solway Aviation Museum. The company is a Registered Charity No 1034715 and the directors are the trustees for the charity.
