Saturday the 27th of June 2015 will see Vulcan Bomber XH558 fly over Carlisle Airport for the last time as part of it’s two day Salute to the V-Force, Farewell to Flight Tour 2015.
After surviving the Cold War Era and The Falklands, Avro Vulcan XH558 is 55 years old, and it is the last one to fly. 2015 will be its last flying season.
This is an event not to be missed, as this will be the last flying Vulcan to visit Carlisle Airport and fly over our very own Vulcan Bomber XJ823.
The crew at Doncaster are still to confirm the timings and these should be available soon. The routing XH558 will take on the day is as follows:
Take-off from Doncaster then fly-pasts at Newark, East Midlands, Cosford, Woodford, Carlisle, East Fortune, Sunderland, Elvington and then land back at Doncaster.
Vulcan To The Sky is fundraising for this event, and you can donate £5 to help cover the cost of the ‘Salute to the V-Force Tour’. You can do this via text message by sending CLSE555 to 70070.
The Solway Aviation Museum at Carlisle Airport will be open as usual and on the 27th. It will be a £3 donation to park, £1 entry to our Vulcan per person and £1 entry to our museum per person.
Ample parking will be available at Carlisle Airport (Disabled parking in the museum car park) and marshals will be on hand to direct traffic on arrival at the main entrance.
We would like to request that people use the car parks to keep the roads clear and not to park across any emergency vehicle access gates or farm gates.
We would also like to request that members of the public do not contact us, Carlisle Airport or Vulcan to the sky about timings as the volunteers or staff will not have the answer.
The Solway Aviation Museum, Carlisle Airport and Vulcan to the sky will publish the times on our website’s and social media channels as soon as we have them. On the day, you will get live updates on the museum’s Facebook page as it happens.
